How Durable Are The Knee Implants?

It is for this reason that age limits for knee replacement surgery have been discarded, yet concern among young people that the implant may not last as long for them as it does for older people. Implant wear has always raised concern among those considering surgery at a relatively young age. However, what must be understood is that the design of the implant differs from the hip implant, which means that wear in this case is much less of a problem than it is perceived.

However, the only concern in knee replacement is implanting loosening. To prevent this from happening, patients are instructed to avoid repeatedly lifting heavy objects, staying fit and maintaining their body weight, refraining from high-impact sports, and avoiding kneeling altogether. In rare cases, there are also recommendations for a second knee replacement.
